You know, one of these days I’m gonna get internet and it’s gonna be AWESOME. But until that day comes, I guess I’m just stuck here waiting. I mean thank god for having unlimited data because goddamn would it have been SO much more difficult otherwise. Now today started surprisingly with me waking up at a half decent time. I mean I got up at like, 11:30, just so I could call Verizon to nag them once more to actually get shit done. I ended up calling them just before noon, and surprisingly enough I actually got through to a human being without much delay, and I thought I was Scott free. I mean, it had apparently been since Friday that there was a request sent in to approve the fact that this apartment EXISTS-excuse me for raising my voice- but even after a helpful person talked with me, I was still no where CLOSE to getting things moving. The phone call didn’t last that long, and before I knew it I was just sitting in bed watching an episode or two of The Good Place; I actually just started binging it today and DAMN is it good. I mean I actually just finished season 2 episode 3, which shows just how much I’ve been binging… anyways.
Around 1:20 I put on some clothes and headed on out to Subway just to get a bite to eat real quick. I was planning on eating earlier than normal, just so I would be hungry again when Liz and I went out for drinks or food later on today. Now after grabbing my food and making my way on back to my apartment, as I stepped inside I came to find that Julian’s mattress and bed frame had arrived; fantastic. Now listen, I had gotten my mattress and bed frame into my old apartment no problem, so I figured this wouldn’t be too much of an issue. Bringing my lunch into my apartment, I headed on back down, ready to begin the haul up the four flights of stairs. Now I started with the mattress, and holy fucking shit was it heavy. I mean of course it was, but goddamn. I honestly, truly don’t know how in the fuck I got it up the stairs, but I did; panting and cursing, taking a few stops along the way, but I did it. Seriously thanks to that, my arms are still sore, AND I have marks on my legs from where I had the box sit when I was resting. Finally making it inside, I dumped the box onto the floor and made my way all the way back down- time for round 2.
This time I had to somehow get the bed frame up all these goddamn stairs. I mean it wasn’t as heavy, but it was definitely still heavy, and because it was in a longer box, it was even harder to get it up the stairs. Like there was no way I could properly grab it, so I just had to somehow manage to get the box up three stairs, then set it horizontally and flip it up the rest of the way. Took a fucking LONG time, but I was doing it. However, when I made it to the third floor, panting and cursing, one of the girl roommates from 3B, aka one of the girls Julian’s been talking about, poked her head out and asked if I needed help; I guess she heard my cursing and muttering. With Danielle’s help- learned her name after a brief introduction- we got the bed frame up the final flight of stairs and into Julian and my apartment. Thank fucking God. My arms were just so exhausted. We chatted for a minute or two, her telling me about her plethora of issues that she’s had to hound Eddie about just to get him to come here and fix it, before saying goodbye and heading back downstairs. Thank god for Danielle, because that SUCKED.
Now as I relaxed and finally enjoyed my meal, I got an unfortunate text from Liz. Things seemed to be set for today, I even got when she normally gets off work, but as I was eating she texted saying that she had to unfortunately bail; something came up. Shit happens I guess. Not discouraged, I texted my friend to see if she still wanted to meet up for some food; thank god she said yes, even if only for a quick bite. Honestly I just wanted to do something with my day, and was glad to see a friend and catch up. With some time to spare, I ended up binging quite a few more episodes from season 1 of The Good Place, before I finally showered, got dressed, and headed off to the Barclays Center to meet up with my friend. After a quick train ride, I stepped outside, finally spotting her and going over to say hello.
We ended up walking and chatting for a while, finally deciding on the Burger Bistro for dinner after we realized that it was Taco Tuesday and all the Mexican restaurants were packed. It was good to catch up with her, and we realized that it had already been five months since we had last seen each other; god being an adult SUCKS. But in all seriousness, these past few months have flown by, and I’m grateful to be where I am now. After we enjoyed our meal, she ended up needing to run some errands, and I… for some reason tagged along. I hope she didn’t feel awkward, but I truly didn’t have much else to do, and it was nice to hang out with a friend for a bit longer. Finally saying goodbye, she headed on home to do some more work, and I headed back to my apartment to do… whatever I wanted?
As I stepped inside, I saw a lack of a large box and heard Julian in the other room. I quickly found that he had enlisted the help of Danielle, who was helping him build his bed frame. As they worked, I ended up watching another episode or two of the food place, before joining them and eventually pouring some wine. Damn we’ve literally gone through three bottles of wine and I haven’t even been here a week yet. Guess being an adult is not so bad. The three of us chatted for a while, before Julian put on Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog; what was more surprising than even the fact that it was originally released in 2008 was how well I remembered some of the lyrics. Julian knew them much better than I did, but the fact that things just started coming back to me says a lot. Man that was already 11 years ago- disgusting. As the night came to a close, Danielle said goodnight and headed on back to her apartment, and Julian and I chatted for a bit before he went to bed and I binged more of The Good Place. Tomorrow it’s back to work, so here’s hoping for a good day.
Until next time,
