Today I woke up, unsure of what I wanted to do with my day. I know I had some things to take care of, like buying some veggies for dinner, but other than that, I didn’t have anything in mind to do with my day off. I was hoping to sleep until 1PM and get 8 hours of sleep, but of course because I drank last night- a little bit too much to be honest, but it is what it is- I ended up waking up by 10AM. Of course instead of starting my day, I decided to just lay in bed for a few hours and just relax. And so I did just that. I ended up moving out of bed close to 2PM, where I turned on my computer to play a game or two of League. After that, I hopped in the shower, got ready, and headed on out to catch the subway downtown. Before I headed out, I decided to take a look on Amazon for some cheap dressers. I had just ordered a TV stand for my room a day or so ago, and I know I need a dresser, so I’m not just leaving my clean clothes on the floor, so I took a look to see what I could find. Luckily I found one for under $100 which is fantastic; so I immediately bought it, and cannot wait to see what it looks like when it comes in on Friday. When Monday comes along I should get the TV stand, and then my room will be nearing completion. My goal is to buy a picture frame for a scratch off map that my ex got me for Christmas two years ago. I know it seems dumb, but how the map works is you scratch off everywhere you’ve been, so you can see everything you’ve done, and everywhere you’ve travelled. I think it will really push me to want to travel more, and see as much of the world as I can.
I headed out to the subway, and caught the first A down to 59th Street. I passed out and woke up to find we had stopped at 59th Street, and we were ready to leave again. “Stand clear of the closing doors.” Luckily the doors weren’t closing, so I quickly woke myself up, stood up, and darted out of the train before it left again. It was going on past 4PM at this point, so I really needed to get something in my system. I decided to take a walk down a few blocks, in the hopes that something would pop out at me. At first, I decided I would go to the closest Chipotle, but then I past by a restaurant that caught my eye. It’s called Melt Shop, and even though I hadn’t ever been there before, the food looked good. I passed by it at first, but then I decided to try it. Why not! And I gotta say, I got a fried chicken sandwich and it was DAMN good. Like seriously. I’m using the restaurant and my food as the cover image and the image at the bottom of the blog respectively, so you can see for yourself. I inhaled the food and headed back out to Whole Foods, to do a little bit of shopping. When inside Whole Foods, I quickly found the frozen veggies and the sauce I was looking for, but I had to do a bit of searching before I found the cheese. Along the way I even found some yogurt pretzels, and of course I couldn’t help myself. I paid for everything and headed back home for the evening. It’s been such gorgeous weather throughout the day today, I gotta say. I love it!
I headed back home, and on the train ride, I ended up getting into a political conversation with someone who just so happens to be a faculty member at my college, since he did not believe an article that said Trump is the most hated president. Unfortunately the man is quite a character, and it felt like he was attempting to sound better, even though he couldn’t possibly understand the magnitude of the damage Trump has caused to people of color. I mean I wouldn’t know either, because I, too, am a straight white male. But I don’t know- I could’ve ripped into him, and become very emotional, but I believe that the best way to disprove an argument, especially when the person on the other side of the argument is very emotional, is to be almost detached; no emotions to feed into the anger you feel towards stupidity. It was a great deal of fun though, I must say. And finally we were back home, safe and sound. I put everything back to where it needed to be and hopped on League for a few hours, making food during a break before playing with my twin for a bit.
To finish the night, I decided to watch a movie called Hacksaw Ridge; it’s a war movie, telling the story of a man in the army who chose to be a medic and not carry around a gun. It’s based on a true story of a medic who worked tirelessly to save the lives of countless fellow soldiers at Hacksaw Ridge. I will not go into the movie, because I don’t want to spoil it for you, but at the end of the day I highly recommend it. I think it’s a very well done movie, with a pretty solid plot, and the acting is on point- especially Andrew Garfield, who played the role of the main character incredibly well. Before the movie started, you know I had to make a run to Rite Aid to get something to munch on, so I picked up some veggie straws, and I also bought some cleaning supplies for my bathroom. Now then, it is 3:53 and I am falling asleep at my computer, so I think it’s about time I pass out.
Until next time,
