A Day Spent Searching for Things to Do (10/22/18)

Today I woke up at noon, but as I lay in bed relaxing, I realized I had no plans for the day. I didn’t have work, I wasn’t really in the mood for a movie, and I didn’t want to waste the entire day playing League. I also wanted to save making food for dinner tonight, so I wanted to go out and get something. I always have Subway, so I wanted something else. I tried to go back to sleep, but it didn’t work. I tried wasting some time watching Youtube videos, but it didn’t work. Now don’t get me wrong, I usually like relaxing, but today… today I don’t know. Doing nothing just made me antsy. I started getting restless, and started thinking long and hard about what I wanted to do with my day.

After a good hour or so, I finally rolled out of bed with a plan. I needed to go shopping for new pants and maybe some long sleeved shirts, and I also needed to buy some sauce for dinner tonight. The closest Whole Foods and H&M were on 59th St., and there just so happened to be a Chipotle a few blocks away as well; It was perfect. I haven’t had Chipotle in a while, so I definitely was in the mood for it. So I brushed my teeth, got dressed, and left, finally with a plan in mind. I made sure to message some friends from school, letting them know I would be coming by on Thursday to see the show, which will be a lot of fun. I finally got on the train just after 3PM, and headed towards 59th St. When I arrived, I headed out of the station and began walking to 52nd St., where I found the Chipotle and headed inside.

It was filled with younger people, between teens and people in their 20’s, but I didn’t really mind. As long as I had a place to sit, I was content. I was actually listening to Pentatonix, which is an a cappella group. I’ve been listening to them for a few years now, and was really in the mood. If you haven’t heard of them, please go listen to their songs– They’ll blow you away. I ordered my bowl, complete with brown rice, carnitas, corn, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, along with guac and chips, paid and sat down at a table closest to the door. I mixed in the guac and chowed down, dipping the chips into the burrito bowl– so damn good. I love me some Chipotle. After a good 20 minutes of eating, I got up, used the restroom, and headed back to 59th St., where the Whole Foods and H&M were.

After a bit of searching, I realized that both stores were in a large mall, so I headed on inside and took the escalator down to the Whole Foods. This place was massive!Luckily I didn’t dawdle and end up spending more money than I would’ve liked. I beelined it to the sauces, and picked up some more Teriyaki, as well as some sweet chili sauce. I wandered around for a hot second until I located the start of the line, and then waited a few minutes before checking out and getting my items; thankfully I didn’t need a bag for the two sauces because I brought my backpack along with me. I headed back up the escalator, and found another set of escalators so I could go up to the second floor. In front of escalators on either side of the entrance to the mall stood a naked woman and a naked man. Both were giant statues, heavier set, and naked. I am not sure why those pieces of art are situated within this mall, but who am I to question the design. (After looking up the mall, I just found out they are the Adam and Eve statues lmao. That makes a lot more sense)

I took the escalator up and headed inside of the H&M. After walking up another set of stairs, I found my way to the guys section, and began searching for jeans; I’ve needed to go shopping for a bit now, since my pants are beginning to get too short. I ended up picking out a pair of size 30 black slim fit jeans, and as I was trying on different pants, I took a leap and tried on a pair of maroon pants. I was worried I wouldn’t like them, but they look really nice! Seriously I’m so glad I found something new and fresh for my closet. I want to dress more fashionable, but I don’t know where to start. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I dress better than I do even four years ago, but I still have a long way to go. I would love to have a stylist or someone come in and redo my look. That’d be damn swell. Anyway, after picking out those two pairs of pants, I started searching for some long sleeve shirts. After a bit of looking, I finally found two that I liked, picked them up, and went to pay; The two pants and two shirts ended up costing me $86– damn clothes are expensive holy moly.

By this point it was already past 5PM, so I left the mall and began making my way back home. As I entered into the subway, I walked down the stairs to find an A train was stopped, but the door had closed. Thankfully, the doors opened back up and I was able to make it inside the packed car, and after a few minutes of waiting we were on our way. I made it back to my apartment by 6:05PM, and told my sister’s boyfriend to get on League. Unfortunately, the hot streak from last night had ended, and we burned up pretty damn quickly tonight. After losing a few games in a row, we both decided to get off and make some food. I combined the chicken I had made with some green beans, rice, and the sweet chili sauce, along with some veggies and guac from the fridge. I sat back down in my room and attempted to win a few games. It did not play out well to say the least. I ended the night after losing four games in a row, deciding to call it quits. Instead of going to bed however, I decided to begin watching an anime called Parasyte- the maxim. I’ve seen clips on Youtube, but this is my first time actually watching it. Definitely a cool anime. After binging four episodes, I figured I should probably go to sleep. I mean, it’s already 4:32 for goodness sake! Tomorrow is a new day, and I’m gonna finally look to do some cleaning around the apartment.

Until next time,

-Michael
