Sunday in the Restaurant with Rain (9/9/18)

I don’t know why, but when I was thinking about what to title this blog post, all that was in my mind was “Sunday In The Park With George”. Great show to listen to, even though it has nothing to do with what I did today. Today I woke up, somehow without a hangover, grabbed some food, and headed off to work. I was honestly not prepared for how chilly it was today. I asked Siri “What temperature is it today?” I was expecting like 68 or 70 degrees. She responded “It’s 56 degrees outside”. Wasn’t it like 90 two days ago? Anyways, so I headed off to work in the rain, and prepped for the shift; Another early day at Emma’s Torch. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I arrived since, because of how gross it was outside, I didn’t think many people would want to leave their houses. I know if I wasn’t working, I wouldn’t have left my room to be honest. But once more today I was very wrong. It went from not being very busy to becoming extremely busy, with more and more customers coming into the restaurant to eat. Luckily myself and another server were working, so we were able to stay on top of everything and ride out the storm as it passed through. The main hiccup we had was at the very beginning, where tickets were just not printing out. Turns out the chord to the printer had gotten disconnected, so the kitchen had not received the first few tickets that we rung in.

I was hoping to sell some Sangrias or Mimosas today, but all of my tables seemed to be families, which meant they ordered little to no alcohol. I also want to say that, don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind kids. One day I would like to have a few of my own, but holy fuck working in a restaurant with kids as some of your patrons can make you want to just quit. I mean, it wasn’t terrible, but we had two kids in the restaurant at the same time, and it was so strange how differently behaved they were. There was a very young baby girl, probably around 1-2 years old, who was completely tranquil and quiet; never making a fuss or crying the whole meal. At the table across from that family, there was another family with a 4-5 year old. Now this kid would just randomly start screaming in the restaurant. And not like a one time thing, where he gets shushed and quiets down. He screamed a good 5 or 7 times before his parents finally took out a phone and started having him watch videos on the phone. Other than that annoyance, it was a good service. Once everyone had finally left, we cleaned up and ate family meal. Another absolutely delicious meal. Like seriously, I’m using the picture I took of the meal for this post’s featured image because god DAMN.

After that, I headed back home to watch some videos on Youtube, and played League for the rest of the night. Unfortunately, out of all of the games I played tonight, (some by myself and some with my sister), I only ended up winning 3 or 4 games, and lost a good 5-10. Basically not a great way to end my night, because it really does put you in a foul mood. But there’s nothing I can do about it now, so I figured I might as well get some sleep; It is almost 2:30 already.

ALSO, I got my schedule for next week, and I’m only working Thursday, and Saturday and Sunday mornings, so I am not too happy about that one. The tips I make are probably half of what I make at night. So stay tuned for that tea.

Until next time,
